For this project, I used a picture of my brother and his girlfriend on my IPhone 8+. I took this picture this summer outside of my house on the street and really tried to capture the beaming sun hit the trees and the neighborhood in the back. I also used a k de on my iPhone called “portrait mode” and it allowed to focus on them and blur the back to give it a cool effect. The main reason why I chose this photo is because I really loved how happy my brother and his girlfriend looked so I wanted that emotion to “pop out”.
So my first step was to cut out just my brother and his girlfriend, then cut the middle ground, finally after that I cut the background. As soon as I got all the main parts cut out it was time to put them on the cardboard and trace it out. I used the blade to outline the photos to the cardboard so therefore i can start taping and make it look 3D. Finally I taped and put the cut outs in order from the beginning to the background and there came out my sculpture. What I really liked about the sculpture was how it really captures and almost brings the photo to life with the 3D effect.
