The process of creating these color gel portraits was nothing but fun and creative in my opinion. The only difficult part is figuring out which colors make which and which aren't dark or too bright. Some colors mixed in really well when combining them or splitting them in half as you see in my photos below. Overall I had a great time mixing colors and creating different images and portraits with them. You can also have an effect on the background if the color is more neutral and you can really pop your subject out with colors.

My cyanotype photo was of the Rbv Varsity baseball pitcher , the chemicals involved to make this cyanotype wereDissolve the chemicals in water to make two separate solutions. Add Ammonium ferric citrate to water into one container and Potassium ferricyanide to water in another. Stir with a plastic spoon until the chemicals dissolve. Mix equal quantities of each solution together in a third container. Or you can buy the mixture already made. After we put that mixture on the photo we put it out on the sun till it completely turned blue and then we went inside to stack it in the other mixture then set it up to dry after. But note to myself and others is to make sure you fully let it turn colors. Overall it was a fun and pleasant experience.
Thom Vollenweider Thom Vollenweider has been in the photography business for 45 years working for several publications such as Sports Illustrated, LA Times and the San Diego Union. But before being a professional photographer he 6 years a photographer in the U.S. Navy, also at 25 Thom was hired as a Staff Photographer/Picture Editor for United Press International in Europe, where he honed his skills covering several news events such as the European Soccer Championships, Belgium Grand Prix, NATO/Common Market meetings in Brussels, Belgium and the Spanish King and Queen’s visit to Luxembourg. After returning to America where he turned in his portfolios to publications like Time and Life in New York. Some of the most popular people he has photographed is Theodor “Dr. Seuss” Geisel,
Presidents Ronald Reagan, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Smokey Robinson, Berry Gordy, singer/songwriters Tom Petty, Graham Nash, Jewel, Willie Nelson and Art Garfunkel. Athletes he has photographed English Channel swimmer Florence Chadwick, boxer Terry Norris, Lance Alworth, Don Coryell and Jerry Rice.He also has worked as the personal photographer for legendary boxer Archie Moore, baseball legend Ted Williams and football great Junior Seau. Which means he's covered the world most spectacular events such as the Super Bowl !I chose these as my top five photos because not only do they show you something special, they can almost tell you a story behind it. For example the Junior Seau portrait shows you the life of a football player with the helmet on but it deeper than that. I also love how his portraits are almost dark but detailed enough to have some great texture to the photos. knolling is a unique way of taking photos of similar objects in a cool manner. The actual definition of knolling is "the process of arranging like objects in parallel or 90 degree angles as a method of organization". Today in the studio we used various items to use for our knolling photos and I used what was around me. I like knolling because you can be creative and use whatever you can find next to you along it is the same genre of Item or color. The only negative part of this type of photography is just setting it up but that all fun and worth it after some good creativity.
Before taking these photos my knowledge for dance photography was very slim. After almost a 2 hour session I learned a lot of new things about dance photographers and how the dancers opinion is very important. Also it takes a lot for a dancer to prepare for their dance because it assures they are properly set and warmed up. Another new fact I learned is that timing is the most important tool to have in dance because to get the perfect jump or pose depending on when you click to take the photo determines the pose.
Walter Looss The Photographer I decided to research is Walter loose because he has a very special unique compared to other sports photographers. Not only does he know how to take live action sports bu he knows how to take portraits swell involving the sport they are associated with. His most well known clients are Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Joe Montana, Calvin Johnson, Mathew Bradford, Muhhamed Ali, Tiger Woods etc. What I like about his style is that it almost seems like he is just freely shooting whatever is going on in a game but really captures a lot of moments that happen before the big play even happens. Thats what I think makes him standout from other photographers. Also many sports photographers shoot portraits but don't make a story out of it like Walter Looss does. Football Basketball Boxing
After attending the fire station I have gained a new understanding of what these firefighters go through on a daily basis. Not only did I learn about them but I learned something new about how I take my photos and what I like and what I don’t like. What I liked about taking photos of the fire station and the firefighters was just roaming free and taking pictures of things that I liked , having no worries.
